A new rating system for the European energy rating label replaces the old one, lifting the demands for energy efficiency of lighting products for the benefit of all of us. The new label has a scale ranging from A to G. If the label is not printed on the part of the packaging meant to face the prospective customer, an arrow containing the letter of the energy efficiency class shall be displayed instead.

The new regulations concern the following four types of products.

Light sources

A light source with or without a controlling device. Example: A traditional retro fit bulb.

A containing product that you cannot disassemble for control measurement of the light source without the risk of damaging the light source. Examples are lamps with integrated LED where the LED module is not easily accessible, such as Oja, Oakland and Clarkson. The entire lamp is considered as and must meet the requirements of a type 1 light source.

Containing products

A containing product where the light source can be taken out and replaced using regular tools. An example is a lamp with an included retro fit bulb, such as Recess with GU10 and Works with G13. The included bulb is considered as and must meet the requirements of a type 1 light source.

A containing product where the light source cannot be replaced, but it can be taken out for control measurement. Typically, these products are lamps with integrated LED where the light source can be taken out without the risk of damaging it, e.g., removing the shade. Examples are products such as Canto and Grip where the light source is easily accessible, but also products such as Artist where you might risk breaking the shade, but the light source remains undamaged. The integrated light source is considered as and must meet the requirements of a type 1 light source.

Other products not part of the new regulations

Luminaires sold without a bulb. Example: A traditional retro fit luminaire sold without a bulb.

Battery powered luminaires. Example: A battery powered luminaire with integrated LED.

What does this mean for our dealers?

It means that our dealers must provide the new labels on their websites and in stores from September 15th, 2021. The labels will be available digitally from August 1st, 2021 and can be found in our content store at the link below. Products without new energy labels can no longer be sold after March 1st, 2023 - after that date, the label needs to be added.

When selling our products online, our dealers must show the energy label and the product information sheet - optionally as an embedded picture. For more detailed instructions, please see Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/2015 annex VIII in the link below.

So in short what you, as a dealer, need to do is:

Download the new energy labels for your Nordlux and dftp collection.
Make them available for the consumer to see and click on the specific product page (please read specific requirements in Regulation)
