Light bulbs

The first thing you need to look at is the lights you have at home. Which socket types do they have, and what are the dimensions? This is what you need to know when you are looking for replacement bulbs to fit the lamp’s shape and size. Also notice how the light was with your old bulb, so you can look for a bulb with a similar beam angle. Additionally, you should consider whether to use dimmable LED bulbs.

Lighting with a clear conscience
LED is becoming more and more popular for many reasons, including its impressive longevity and the energy savings which can be achieved by switching to LED. Based on recent developments in LED, the light itself is now also significantly improved – it is no longer a cold light, and colour reproduction is on par with halogen lights. Our design is innovative, both in using materials and new ways to integrate LED, and we work continuously with the further development of light sources.

LED bulbs
LED stands for Light Emitting Diode (diode that emits light). There are numerous benefits to replacing the old light bulbs with LED bulbs. Before purchasing new LED bulbs, there are some aspects to take into consideration.

Our packaging indicates whether the bulb is dimmable. With dimmable bulbs you must always be aware that the bulb's ability to dim is affected by the dimmer itself – confer at the shop or with your electrician about the compatibility between bulbs and dimmers.

Integrated LED
Integrated LED means that the light source is an integrated element of the lamp. You must therefore be aware that the light source cannot be replaced in lights with integrated LED.

The technology of integrating light sources has given designers and developers new opportunities to create exciting designs that previously were not possible. Nordlux provides a 5-year warranty on LED/light sources in lights with an integrated LED.

Two types of LED
There is a great difference between light’s function in the various rooms in the home. So it is also a good idea to take this into consideration when buying lights. You can divide LED light into two categories: Directional and non-directional light.

With directional LED light, light is emitted in a more or less narrow cone and in only one direction. The dispersion is narrow, and this type of light works well in spotlights or lights used for work, such as a table lamp on the desk, or a reading lamp by the armchair.

Non-directional light is emitted in all directions with wide dispersion. The type of light is suitable for lights used to illuminate large surfaces, for example in the pendant lamp over the dining table or the table lamp to provide atmospheric lighting.

Advantages of LED

  • Long life
  • Switches on immediately – does not need to warm up
  • Produces less heat than, for example, halogen bulbs.
  • High light quality in warm white colours
  • Energy saving
  • Does not contain mercury

Recycling
LED bulbs must be disposed of at the recycling center as approx. 85% of the bulb's packaging material is recyclable.
